Birjees Aslam Welfare Organisation
Birjees Aslam Welfare Organisation is a joint venture of a group of friends.
The founding principle of this organization is to empower the underprivileged members of society through education, and training to become independent financially. Financial support in the form of microcredit will also be provided to set up a new home-based business or extend an existing one. This microcredit will be essentially both interest-free and refundable in a reasonable period of time on reasonable terms.
Dress Design
Setting up a dress designing training school is the first of the many envisioned projects which will be launched soon after this one, based on the available funding, need, and manageability,
This project, a dress designing school, has now been established in Nawab Town Lahore. The establishment and running of this training school for one year are projected to cost PKR375,000 and are fully funded.
The certificate
The training school offers a certificate in dress design. This is a 20-weeklong hands-on training course. Each student will receive a “Certificate in Dress Design” upon successful completion of this course. Under the current arrangements, two courses will be run each calendar year. The first course of the year will start on 1st January and the second course will start on 1st of July. Each student will compile a professional portfolio displaying their learning and work throughout the duration of this course.
This is expected that successful graduates will be able to find employment for themselves in the clothing industry.
They will also have an opportunity to start their home-based enterprise.

Mrs. Nasim Yusuf Khan is based in Lahore, Pakistan. She is the principal and the project manager of the organization. She has set up this training facility from the scratch, procured the machines, set up the facility and recruited the training staff, and now enrolling the students. She has previously served in the Punjab education department at various senior teaching and administrative levels. She retired from the education department several years ago. At that time, she was serving at the level of director.

Dr. Shahid Chohan is based in Melbourne, Australia. He is coordinating the activities of this organization between Australia and Pakistan. Shahid has an academic background where he was teaching and researched at various universities in Pakistan and Australia. Currently, he is running a consultancy offering services to the disability support industry in the areas of quality management and quality auditing.

Miss Faiza Ijaz is based in Lahore, Pakistan. She is our dress design instructor at this school. She is a qualified professional instructor who obtained her diploma in dress design from Pak German Centre in Lahore. She has been providing dress design training at senior levels in the industry for over ten years. She is a hardworking and experienced teacher with an excellent professional reputation in the industry.
